Whose Thoughts Are In YOUR Head? - Perception Academy

Whose Thoughts Are In YOUR Head?

“Whose thoughts are in your head?” This was the question I asked my client upon hearing him state a clearly limiting belief.  This is when I got an answer that caught me off guard.

“My father’s,” he replied.

I was perplexed.  “If your father’s thoughts are in your head, whose thoughts are in his head?”

“His father’s”, he replied without hesitation.

Now I was engaged. “That is fascinating!” I replied to him in a surprised tone… “In your family, thoughts skip a generation?”

I could tell by his non-verbal response that he still didn’t get it.

“Well whose thoughts are in your head” he asked, flipping the conversation back on me.

Of course, not all of the beliefs in our head were originally created by us. In fact, in our first years of life introjecting the worldviews of others is precisely how we learn how to be human.

And as fallible beings, unfortunately our minds received a mix of resourceful and unresourceful messages. Mature and immature messages. Accurate messages and inaccurate messages.

And not only that, but even the conclusions that we did come up with on our own as young humans were created with a child’s mind. Very likely not of the kind and quality of beliefs to set as rules to live by permanently.

If you want to step into the driver’s seat of your life and become the programmer of your mind rather than the programmed, one of the first things you’re going to need to do is take ownership over what goes on behind your nose and toes.

It’s easy to blame, or to pawn off responsibility onto others or external circumstances, but the truth is that while you may not have generated the programming that drives your responses it is your responsibility.

If a natural disaster damages your home, while you were not personally the cause, it is still your responsibility to fix it (or deal with the consequences of deciding not to fix it).

Regardless of how the thoughts got in there, at the end of the day the consequences of those thoughts fall squarely on you.

So, when he asked me whose thoughts were in my head, the answer was simple.

“My own.”

If you would like to be the programmer of your own mind, taking responsibility is the first step.

You’ll also need to know how to pinpoint the problems worth solving and of course you’ll need to learn to re-code your consciousness, consciously.

Would you like to truly step into the driver’s seat of your life rather than a passive passenger?

Would you like to become the author of the story of your life rather than the actor?

The programmer rather than the programmed?

If yes, reach out and let’s get you started today…

The power is yours.
