Are you aware that you speak hypnotically? In fact everyone does on a regular basis whether they are trained and doing it consciously or they unconsciously picked it up from their friends and family growing up.
And our hypnotic language patterns influence others for better or for worse. In the current age of digital communication there are so many individuals and organizations fighting for your attention and aiming to influence your behavior towards their agenda this is a given.
How is one to protect themselves from these forms of communication underlying every conversation?
Your primary mental self defense tool is to build in yourself a state of true personal power. A state of ownership over your own responses.
The opposite pattern of thinking is one where we, consciously or unconsciously, give our power away to others/events.
We can hear this within thinking patterns/language patterns of ‘cause and effect’ where one gives an outside ‘cause’ ownership over their internal state and responses.
“He makes me…”, “She makes me…”, “The world makes me…”
This ‘cause effect’ language pattern is a thought/communication pattern of disempowerment, victimhood and blame.
When we learn how to take responsibility for and ownership over our responses to the things in the world, like magic, we enter into a state of empowerment, regardless of the external circumstances.
Rather than “you make me/It makes me” we enter into the realization of “I make me.”
When you learn how to practice this pattern and get better at it, like The Wizard of Oz, it pulls back the curtain on the advertisers, politicians, family members, world events, and others who try to influence you and puts your power back where it belongs….. Inside of you!
No matter how smart they are or how trained they are, no one can “make you” do anything” when you take ownership over your own responses, which is the ultimate form of mental self defense.
